I stayed in a Meru tent to get a closer feel of the outdoors and still keeping the comforts of a toilet and shower right in my room. Everything about Thakadu is simple yet elegantly traditional. A one-eyed owl and a bat-eared fox called basil

These are just two of the guests you can expect to meet at Thakadu (Tswana for aardvark) bush camp situated some 5 km from Ghanzi in central Botswana. The marsh owl was rescued on the Trans Kalahari highway which runs adjacent to the farm and Basil having been confiscated from poachers who had killed his mother.
