Overall a very nice hotel perfectly situated on the beach and a short walk to Grand Bay. Will come back to this hotel if we go back to Mauritius...

I found the location of the hotel was great, it was a few min from Grand Baie, one could even walk if you were felt like it. There were taxis available just outside the hotel as well as a bus stop. We found the hotel very clean and the staff were very friendly and kind. It was great for our two daughters, as they could leave the room and wonder down to the beach with us not having to worry to much about them, knowing they were safe on the beach.The beaches were clean and swiming was superb, not to mention the unlimited water sports.Breakfast was a highlight on our visit.We would deffinetly go back for another visit.

We, as a family of four, stayed at the Merville Hotel in Mauritius for one week during June 2005. We had one large bedroom off the main building of the Hotel with our own bathroom & shower/toilet. Even though we were not in the main building of the Hotel we nevertheless had easy access to the beachfront which was approximately 50m away from our patio on the ground floor. Our daughters were then 6 and 8 years old and it was an enjoyable, relaxing holiday for us all. Most enjoyable for us were the watersports offered by the Hotel, all of which were free of charge. The waterskiing, glass bottom boat and snorkeling trips were the highlight for my husband and I. For our daughters though, their highlight was definitely the delicious syrup pancakes for breakfast in the mornings (and the lovely warm beaches of course).As our children were generally exhausted by around 9pm in the evenings, we didn’t take full advantage of the Hotel entertainment for the evenings, which we found a pity, as each night there was a new item/entertainer scheduled. Needless to say, we sacrificed for our children (and mind you, we weren’t far behind the children either and welcomed the early nights!) The Hotel staff were very friendly and efficient, and our room was kept very clean everyday. The Merville Hotel is situated close to Grand Baai (walking distance) although we did notice a bus stop in front of the Hotel. The weather was lovely (not too hot and not too many mosquitos), the scenery was great (well kept gardens), our holiday was a memorable and most enjoyable one. We will definitely return to Hotel Merville…… soon hopefully!

We had a wonderful time, enjoyed the plenty possibilities the hotel offers (water ski etc.), nice contact with the friendly staff. We felt at home and loved our stay.

This hotel is great for it's location: a few minutes by car from Grand Baie center and on the best beach of Grand Baie. A bus stop right in front of the hotel.The hotel is quite old which is not very obvious in the public areas but it is in the rooms and bathrooms; however nothing can be said about the cleanliness.Breakfast was great; an enormous choice every day. Dinner on the other hand was rather average. The nextdoor cafe is really cosy and nice for lunch.We loved all the water sports which were included in the price. Even water ski.Alltogether a great holiday.
