The visit
The Moevenpick Resort & Spa is one of three hotels in Bel Ombre on the unspoilt South coast of Mauritius. It opened 2 years ago as the Voile d’Or and has since been taken over by the Swiss management company Moevenpick about one year ago.The premises are very extensive with beautiful lush gardens, 181 rooms and four pools alongside a 500 metres long white sandy beach.
Location
The Moevenpick Resort & Spa is located on the magnificent wild South Coast of the island where you can hear the thunderous ocean and see the waves brake on the reef. The transfer time from the airport is about one hour, as is the journey to Port Louis.Atmoshpere

All 181 tastefully decorated rooms of the Moevenpick Resort & Spa have a direct view on the Indian Ocean. Unique for Mauritius is that Moevenpick offers family rooms with a separate bedroom for up to three children. A special feature in all bathrooms is a big round bathtub with a little outside space to enjoy in complete privacy.Beach
The sandy beach at the Moevenpick Resort & Spa stretches for 500 metres in front of the hotel (and continues on both sides along the coast). The area by the pool is quite lively whereas other areas have a more intimate atmosphere. The reef protects the lagoon from the continuous breaking of the waves.Activities
The 1800 m2 Arabian inspired spa promises relaxing moments with a small roof-top pool and area to relax. The sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi are free of charge.
Most water sports are free of charge at the boathouse of the Moevenpick Resort & Spa, these include water skiing, windsurfing, laser sailing, etc.
There is a diving center, tennis court and a fitness center. In addition to these traditional activities there is also a pottery course which is open to adults as well as children.

There are three restaurants at the Moevenpick:
- Pousada 1507, the main cellar-like restaurant with its unusual roof made out of flower pots. A different themed buffet is served here every night.

The Moevenpick is one of the very few hotels in Mauritius which offers two different categories in one hotel. During day time, the Colonial House with its own swimming pool is reserved for the use of club and suite guests where an open bar is at disposal of the guests as well as a library and free use of the internet.
For families
Children from the age of 3 to 11 are entertained at the kids-club at the Moevenpick Resort & Spa which is open until 10 pm every day. Point to note is that lunch, for children up to 6 years, is served at the kids-club with no extra charge. Also, parents can leave their children for their afternoon nap at the kids-club.
