overrated and overpriced
We spent two nights in the hotel. As soon as we arrived we went to have lunch in la terrace restaurant, and we where already wandering what is all the fuzz about this hotel. Looking from outside to the restaurant area you notice this bright blue metal cheap looking roof, it looked like a 2 stars greek hotel. You can see in many details and deco that this hotel is a bit dated. The rooms are not as big as other five star hotel on the island. We had to squeeze the cot on one side. We had a room without a beach in front. A great number of rooms are situated on one side overlooking at the fresh water side of the lagoon and there is no beach but only boats from the boat house and the sea does not look good. The food is ok but hugely overpriced. Breakfast was better than dinner, the oysters were dead and some of the food in the buffet should have been hot but it was cold, the tuna in the sushi was ok but looked a bit brown. Service is good but do not give any difficult dresses to iron, it is money wasted. I had to return my dress and even the second time it was creased and clearly non ironed properly, infact i could not wear it in the evening. The butler service was good and efficient, and the kids club and babysitters were good. The bed confortable, the linens and the cushions were extra luxury. The beach, where there was a beach was nice and big and the service on the beach was excellent. The room itself grows on you and do not get me wrong i had two fantastic days, but i do think that that kind of hotel should be perfect in all aspects, and it wasn't.
good central accomodation
The rooms are small but very pretty and the bathrooms as well. The views from some rooms are very beautiful and you can see all of Manchester. We spent only one night but we could have spent more. The architecture and the interior decoration compensated for the expensive price for the milk for our child...
Colonial
This is a beautiful part of Mauritius, the south. The beach and the sea are really nice. The junior suites are decorated in colonial mauritian style as the rest of the hotel. The nicest ones are the sea view with direct access to the beach. Food is ok. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster. We were four people ordering english breakfast and we managed to have four different plates... but the taste was good. There is a lovely spa but a bit expensive. If you are a golf lover you can go and play at the Bel Ombre golf course. If you are a fan of afternoon teas you can enjoy one in a beautiful setting as it is at the Bel Ombre restaurant.Good babysitting service even if expensive
For Businessmen
The rooms are rich but not to my taste. I would say the decor was a bit tired. The food at the restaurant was good but not excellent as I would have expected.
Lovely
I spent only one night but had the chance to see the junior suite and the standard room. They are both nice but the Junior suit is excellent. there are lots of pools and even if it is a big hotel it is quite intimate. nice beach as well. The buffet meals were really good. we tryied the Indigo restaurant as well and it was excellent as well. well worth it. it is not good for children. you have to book the baby sitter in advance and they are expensive. the reception as well was e bit confusing and disorganized. If you are a couple it is a very nice hotel to visit. I also ahd time to try a yoga class there which was very relaxing.
Fantastic view over Rome
I had my wedding reception there and it looked fantastic. We arrived there before sunset and it was really nice. The hotel is a converted 16th century villa with all frescoes inside, a bit damaged but still there, it has been furnished in style. The restaurant is very nice. We spent one night there and the room was nice with a fantastic view again.
Paradise
This place is what I call paradise on earth. I went there for my honeymoon and i found what I was looking for: quiet, tranquillity and beautiful sea. It is a very small island with only a few villas all around. The food is great the spa is lovely and there are good deals for honeymooners, like dinner in your bungalow veranda and massages for couples. There is no tv or cars on the island and it is a perfect place for isolate yourselves for a week. Staying there more than a week is probably too much as there is nothing elso to do apart from stimulating your senses. My husband and I had a few close encounters with sharks during snorkelling around the island but we are still here and it is really worth it. We just wanted to spend all the time in the water snorkelling. The hotel is investing in marine research, trying to facilitate the growth of corals, to monitor and study the green turtles and the reef sharks. This place is magic.
